Chinese Tea Table # 2

I built this table for our new company office. It’s modest in dimensions but very high quality live-edge seasoned hardwood. It’s a small space so I wanted to build something understated.

There are a few live-edge slab dealers on craigslist in Somerville/Cambridge that bring seasoned wood in from New Hampshire. This was my first time buying wood for a tea table so there was a bit of sticker shock but it was a nice piece.

Sugar maple is rock hard. I definitely don’t recommend cutting it this way.

I haven’t figured out a good source for stumps or anything like that in the Boston area yet, so I found a cheap side table that could be re-purposed for a base.

And it’s off

Coronavirus outbreak creates some free time to finish the table. Final chiseling of the drain and drilling the drain (not pictured)
